Shielded Vial Transport

Tungsten/lead shielded vial transport container for safe dose delivery

Product Details

What materials provide the best radiation shielding for vial transport?

Our shielded vial transport containers are constructed from high-density tungsten alloy or lead composites, delivering superior attenuation of gamma and beta radiation. The outer shell is machined to precise tolerances, ensuring a consistent wall thickness that meets international transport regulations while keeping the overall weight manageable for field use.

How many vials can a single transport container hold?

Each container is available in multiple cavity configurations, accommodating anywhere from 1 to 20 standard activity vials depending on the model. Custom inserts are machined to fit specific vial dimensions — including 2 mL, 6 mL, and 10 mL sizes — so doses remain securely seated during transit. The modular insert system also allows quick reconfiguration between different vial counts without requiring additional containers.

Does the container maintain temperature stability during transit?

Yes. The sealed lid design incorporates a thermal insulation layer that buffers against ambient temperature swings, keeping radiopharmaceutical doses within the recommended 2–8 °C range for extended periods. When paired with an optional phase-change cooling insert, the container can sustain stable temperatures for up to 8 hours — well beyond typical delivery windows. Surface dose-rate indicators on the exterior give handlers immediate visual confirmation that shielding integrity is intact throughout the journey.
